Privacy Policy

Centenary Publishing House ("CPH", "we", "us") is the publishing arm of the Church of the Province of Uganda. This policy explains what personal information we collect through centenaryph.com, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.

Information we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and a securely stored (hashed) password when you create an account.
  • Order requests: the items and quantities you request, your delivery region or pickup point, delivery address or parish, and contact details.
  • Messages and manuscripts: what you send through the contact form, and any manuscript files and details you submit for publishing.
  • Book reviews: the name, rating, and review text you submit (shown publicly once approved), plus an optional email address that is never shown.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Technical information: your IP address and basic request details, which our server uses to keep the site secure and to limit repeated submissions (for example, too many reviews or sign-in attempts).
  • Analytics (only if you accept): if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how the site is used, such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device type. See Cookies and analytics.

How we use your information

  • To confirm stock, delivery, and payment for your order requests, and to deliver your order.
  • To run your account, saved books, and order history.
  • To reply to your messages and review manuscript submissions.
  • To publish approved book reviews.
  • To send newsletters, only if you have subscribed.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent abuse, and, with your consent, understand which pages help people find books.

We use your information because you ask us to (for example, to process an order request), because you have given consent (newsletter, analytics), or where we need to for security and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed:

  • Delivery: with couriers and the dioceses, retailers, or agents who help us deliver your order.
  • Service providers: our website host and email provider, who process data on our behalf to run the site and send emails.
  • Google Analytics: only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • WhatsApp: if you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, your conversation is handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements: where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in, and we store your order basket and saved books in your browser. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you choose Accept on our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with . Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

How long we keep it

We keep order and account records for as long as you have an account and as long as needed for our accounts and legal obligations. Messages, manuscripts, and reviews are kept while they are relevant to your request. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see Your rights).

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email. To make a request, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Office of Uganda.

Security

The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored hashed, manuscript uploads are kept in a protected folder, and only authorised staff can access personal information in our admin system.

Children

Our website is meant for general audiences, parishes, and institutions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the involvement of a parent, guardian, or school.

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
